TransIberian 2004 alone
After the accident of Paco Escolar, Roman Quintana dedicated his trip to him and took off in Donostia-San Sebastián July 20 and 9 days later the July 29 were able to land in paradisian beaches of Zahara (To the South of Cadiz). Flying with his TOP80 1400 and without vehicle of support, thanks to the unexpected aid were able to complete the route in 10 days, almost 1000km. Two bricklayers in Vitoria helped him, Julia-Alvaro-Fernando-Ines-Maite friends of a Shell fuel station in Cogollos near Burgos, Claudio the ppg pilot of Somosierra, Encarna and Rocío of the complex of Swimming pools of the Monteros in Almuradiel, Angel Jiménez the ppg pilot and fireman of Cordova, Carlos Gomez Head of the Park of Firemen and ppg pilot too also of Villamartín and all the Firemen of Villamartín (Cadiz), Iñigo Arizaga that daily sent the forecasts, Nerea their friend that every day underwent next to the moving body, Moisés Robles of miaventura.com to make the daily pursuit in its Web, and all the friends of all parts of Spain that animated to him to continue their trip.

1st STAGE: Astigarraga (San Sebastián) - Vitoria (77,62Km)
Tuesday jul 20 : The day wakes cloudy and I take off at 9:43H. I have cleared the extra tank before taking off because Nerea (my friend) notices to me that it has loosen the separator, in adition it is cruel to take off with 41kg. Until Tolosa sky is clear but after was cloudy. Later I found wind from the front and costs one hour to me to cross the Mountain range of Aizkorri to 1805m of height over the Monastery of Aránzazu without knowing if to the other side will be cleared. Later lot movementes until I spent the tank in the cross from Olarizu to the outskirts of Vitoria. 12:19H. The helicopter of the airport has followed of distant spot I imagine to me to delimit the airport that is to the north. Difficult and the magician comes now, begins the adventure here. 2nd STAGE: Vitoria - Vibriesca (64,15km)

Wednesday 21 of July. I have taken off at 9:17H by the damn fog. Towards Miranda de Ebro there was lot of movementes. I have landed to 11:28H in wheat fields next to the AUTOGRILL of the freeway of Towns last Briviesca in the 3.20.29 coordinates 42.31.43Norte the West. The moving body of gps is exhausted. I am going to leave the motor just here covered by the paraglide, and will return with the fuel to spent the rest of the day here.

3rd STAGE : Vribiesca - Cogollos (Burgos) (45,09Km)
Thursday 22 of July. Takeoff 9.46H. To 10h begins the movements and in Burgos already he is southwestern and I advanced between 20 and 25 kmh. Soon the movements becomes harder and it was a constant search of landings. Balance sheet to 13 kmh and decided to land next to the Shell Petrol Station of Cogollos 11:15H. Fernando from Shell gives a t-shirt to me of Frigo, showers, shaves, as a menu and drinks piles of juices and refreshments. To this rate I do not believe that it arrives at Cadiz but I am not going to risk flying with fog. I will try to arrive to Paco's in Somosierra. Tonight by gentility of Julia and Alvaro I sleep in its house of Cogollos.

4th STAGE: Cogollos - Aranda - Aoslos (Somosierra) (132,04km)

Friday 23 of July. Takeoff WITHOUT FOG!a 7:05H with South front wind of 20 kmh passing Lerma and arriving at Aranda de Duero. To refuel in a AutoGrill and get direction to Somosierra and my engine only takes 8700 rpm in hot. In Honrubia of Cuesta the motor starts making noises and I thought to land much times. I cross Somosierra after half an hour because don't have power. I see a Shell Petrol Starion and I land to stopped motor not to alarm the cows that surround to me. I call to Paco Escolar and he sends me Claudio and we are going to eat in Paco's to celebrate it and to review the carburetor. I will spend the night in Paco's. Claudio and Víctor will take to me tomorrow until the takeoff. Víctor wants to follow me flying until the Escorial.

5th STAGE : Aoslos - El Escorial - Olias del Rey (Toledo) (137,23km)

Saturday 24 of July: Víctor and I took off surrounded by cables and once in the air we passed Buytrago de Lozoya. A pretty town walled and later all the mountain range of Guadarrama until the El Escorial. Everything free with a stable super mist and without I wag. Víctor lands in one stands out filled with cables. Vicky (my friend Of El Escorial) has come has to salute to us while we refuelled, and as it follows good I have taken off following my route and Víctor flies to Aoslos to his car. Landing 14:01H in Olias del Rey about 10km from Toledo with a suffocating heat. I call to a Taxi and I park the motor in an Inn to be able to survive in the swimming pool of the town.

6th STAGE : Olias del Rey - Puerto Lápice - Almuradiel (Despeñaperros) (167,1Km)

Sunday 25 July 6:00H Way 2km WITH the MOTOR At night by the border of the N401 until the Petrol Station and I cross the 4 rail ways to buy MINERAL oil. Taking off at 6:54H and until Mora ith crossed wind northeastern and Consuegra step (with a Castle surrounded by wind mills), and I without batteries in the camera :( To refuel in Lápice Port (Ciudad Real - Real City) and indifference turning between cables!!. Soon to 54kmh until the Swimming pools of Almuradiel. A Paradise. I have taken two jars of beer with lemon. I have locked motor near the iron door of the swimming pool and given great bath. After to me to by gasoline and thinking the morning route. I sleep in the stretcher of the Medicine kit of the Swimming pools thanks to Encarna, the owner of the Complex.

7th STAGE : Almuradiel - Alcolea (Córdoba) (121,3km)
26 Mondays July: 7:03H Almuradiel Takeoff. I make slope to the right of Despeñaperros to pass it with 1280 meters and directly to Cordova to 74kmh... I arrive at the Carpio (120km) in two hours! Refuel and when taking off I hear a Clack! and I land in a hill to 400m of the Jail of Cordova. The motor throws smoke and the fiber housing burns a finger to me. The ventilator of refrigeration melted on the cylinder, and the shovel with fused plastics. Here the trip finishes to me. Paco gives me the telephone number of Angel Jiménez PPG pilot and fireman from Cordova, that me offers its house to me, clean clothes. Pap will send to the piece while rest tomorrow to me a day by gentility of Angel. Angel is mountain instructor, fireman, paragliding and ppg pilot and makes tandems with motor and is the one that is promoting the flight with motor in Cordova. 27 Tuesdays July: To 8:00 I go to get the piece in SEUR and away to the park of firemen of Cordova to repair the motor. I must go to a turner so that they remove a broken screw to me within the magnetic steering wheel. Carlos Herrera (the turner coils itself and he does free) I finish mounting the motor and Pepe (a friend of Angel) leaves me where I landed yesterday to spend the night. 8th STAGE : Alcolea - Écija - Villamartín (Cádiz) (145,1km)

Wednesday 28 of July: Wind in front all the short while to 19-25kmh a roll. I land in Écija and I have only flown 50km in 2 hours. When aproaching to Morón a giant military airplane passes 300m over to me when I was flying 80m on the land. It is thermal and I land to 12:04H in the swimming pools of Villamartín (Cadiz). 19H a certain approaches Carlos Gomez the fire chief of the town that in addition flies in paramotor, and it invites to me to spend the night in the park of firemen. They approach to me to the firemens base in a light truck, they invite to have dinner with them while they are on the duty... Great!

9th STAGE : Villamartín - Zahara de los Atunes (82,94km)

Thursday 29 of July. 8:00H. The Firemen take to me just to the takeoff next to the swimming pools. We make photos and give us telephones. Takeoff 8:27H greetings from the air and towards Arcos with height to pass the lake. Arriving at Medina the wind from the west kmh restrains to me in 18kmh. I put accelerator to the Action and balance sheet to 30kmh... Last 30 km balance sheet to 44 kmh watching the rear-view one of the fuel. will I arrive? In the Port Albufera (Barbate) the fuel small bottle begins to drain. Uff ':P a stroll by all the precious beach of Zahara until I land with a little bit fuel at 11:05H. Beer with lemon and an ice cream to celebrate it.
The best thing of the trip is the good people who I have known by the way. Thanks to have animated to me at every moment. Now I become to house to embrace the friends who I throw as much of less and coverall to Nerea (the Peke) that so bad short whiles I have made him pass slope of the mobile phone. Tomorrow he is her birthday fulfills and eve of San Ignaciós and Josu it has invited to all those of our Sorginak club (the best one of the world) his society in Azpeitia. Pack the motor in MRW and Bus to Seville, AVE to Madrid and bus to Donostia that leaves me at 6:20 in the arms of the Peke... THE END
